I know I'm a bit late with this post, but I couldn't let it go unsaid on PA that Riitta Immonen, the founder of Finnish textile company Marimekko, died last month. Marimekko means "Mary's little dress" in Finnish, and the company was born in 1951 at its first small showing of dresses at a Helsinki restaurant. In April, I posted about this dress that my grandma Frieda gave me and I wore as a kid. It's still sold by Marimekko almost 30 years later. I'll be forever greatful to my grandma Frieda for introducing me to such great design.
