Jane over at Ill Seen, Ill Said shared this lovely post about shepard's huts eariler this week. Such a nice solution for a small peripheral space, and a romantic idea. It reminds me of the gypsy caravan in Roald Dahl's Danny The Champion of the World.

50 years of Marimekko

Major scoop! To celebrate 50 years of Marimekko in the United States, the wife of Benjamin C. Thompson, the Architect that designed the famous Design Research store in Harvard Square, is planning an exhibit in the same space where Marimekko was first sold. The space was later occupied by Crate & Barrel, until a few months ago when, sadly, it became vacant. My sources tell me that the exhibit will be up shortly and will showcase vintage Marimekko dresses, possibly on all three floors of the glass building, and will run until September.

Now that summer has finally arrived in the Northeast after seemingly endless spring cold and rain, it seems fair to think about summery things like grilling. I've always liked this table grill by Eva Solo, which I re-discovered on Remodelista's (one of my favorite blogs) new beta site. I wish I had a deck or fire escape to put it on.

Why is it so difficult to find a rocking chair these days? For one, apparently that's not what they're called anymore. They're now known in the world of retail as "gliders"; who knew? I found a good looking, comfortable, and not too gigantic one at Crate & Barrel for $999. Not exactly cheap. Maybe it'll go on sale...? The Hathaway is available in 15 different colors.
