Major scoop! To celebrate 50 years of Marimekko in the United States, the wife of Benjamin C. Thompson, the Architect that designed the famous Design Research store in Harvard Square, is planning an exhibit in the same space where Marimekko was first sold. The space was later occupied by Crate & Barrel, until a few months ago when, sadly, it became vacant. My sources tell me that the exhibit will be up shortly and will showcase vintage Marimekko dresses, possibly on all three floors of the glass building, and will run until September.

I read a lot of blogs and sometimes I am reluctant to add another to my feed because – less face it – there are only so many hours in the day and you can't procrastinate for all of them. Design for Less, however, is one new blog that I didn't hesitate to add to my list. Sisters Julka and Kristin Almquist, finding themselves both trying to live on a strict budget, set out last August to write a blog on good design at affordable (and sometimes free!) prices.
As a former dance student, I really dig the art direction for the photos of Marcel Wanders' collection of wallpapers. The wallpaper isn't too bad either. It popped up recently on id textile and on cool hunting's post about Mondrian South Beath Hotel Residences.
