Now that summer has finally arrived in the Northeast after seemingly endless spring cold and rain, it seems fair to think about summery things like grilling. I've always liked this table grill by Eva Solo, which I re-discovered on Remodelista's (one of my favorite blogs) new beta site. I wish I had a deck or fire escape to put it on.

I've been thinking about chocolate lately since I started reading The True History of Chocolate, and I remember testing Fine & Raw chocolate at the Brooklyn Flea just before Christmas. It was delish. Made with raw cacao and high in antioxidants, Fine & Raw chocolate is made with agave nectar which is low GI and lower calorie than sugar. More info about this local Brooklyn artisan here.

Summer is in full swing in New York, with more than a couple of days of 90+ weather under the belt, it couldn't be a better time for gelato. The Italian gelateria, Grom, recently opened on Bleecker and Carmine and last Friday I couldn't resist an invitation to try it out. When you are in Italy or New York, I highly recommend their nocciola.

cube tasting dish

I saw this cube tasting dish last week at Crate & Barrel and came this close to buying it; it was so cute, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what I'd use it for. The little cubes are about 1 x 1". Maybe for tiny condiments?

tap project

The Tap Project, a campaign that helps UNICEF provide safe drinking water for children around the world by asking a minimum of $1 for the tap water diners normally enjoy for free, is coming to a city near you during World Water Week (March 16-22). I'm going to stop by my local restaurant that week to contribute my $1 and see if I can get one of these nifty bottles. I think they're just for advertising purposes though.
